“Draping a Fitted Dress” Sewing Video
This is an introduction to the technique Draping. Draping is a technique which uses fabric to make a pattern on a form or a person by pinning to create a garment.
We will use this technique to create your own fitted dress design, with or without sleeves.
Supply list for “draping a fitted dress”
• 3/4 dress form or full body (must be adjustable to your size & able to stick pins in)
• sewing Machine with at least a straight stitch
• 1 bobbin
• 2 way or 4way stretch fabric 1 1/2-2 yards(depending on the length you want)
• fabric scissors
• thread snips (optional)
• seam ripper
• ruler (18” or better)
• hip curve ruler
• arm hole ruler
• soft measurement tape
• 1 spool matching poly-thread
• 1 spool matching nylon or stretch thread
• 1 spool (any non-match) poly-thread
• 1 hand needle
• thread wax(optional)
• satin or silk pins
• pencil & eraser
• chalk
• 1-2 yards pattern paper
